Today, unelected state employees are creating fuel and energy policies without any oversight from the Legislature. Their actions have resulted in fuel, electricity and natural gas rates that are much higher in California than the national averages and costs are continuing to rise.

California needs statewide energy policies that consider both costs and reliability and the Legislature needs to increase its oversight of these unelected state employees to stop costs to consumers from getting out of control.

As California moves forward into the next generation of energy and climate change policies, CARE will advocate for policies that successfully achieve greenhouse gas reduction goals based on strong legislative oversight and accountability that balance our need to grow jobs and our economy for future generations of Californians.
